Seriously, I put off reading the new Toni Morrison for these 400 pages? But I do like to finish books so I can articulate what I didn't like better.nomadreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04795144320842413060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-32747396866387621082012-04-30T12:45:18.557-04:002012-04-30T12:45:18.557-04:00Lovely review -- the quote you pulled out was a fa...Lovely review -- the quote you pulled out was a favorite of mine, too. I'm so disappointed in this book -- I definitely think 100 pages fewer might have might it a tighter story, but there was still Grace to contend with -- and she and I just didn't get along.Audrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07511122937603890352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-87030426935235818902012-04-30T12:16:28.945-04:002012-04-30T12:16:28.945-04:00Zibilee--the main character definitely didn't ...Zibilee--the main character definitely didn't work for me, but if the mystery were more of its focus, I think I could have overlooked it. I think many of the problems I had with pacing could have been solved if it were about 100 pages shorter. Perhaps then the mystery could have shined.nomadreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04795144320842413060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-41928925031330430162012-04-30T12:14:05.387-04:002012-04-30T12:14:05.387-04:00I have heard complaints similar to yours about thi...I have heard complaints similar to yours about this book, and scratched it off my list after reading about the smugness of the main character's take on motherhood. It sounds like this book wasn't really all that enjoyable, which is sad, because the mystery aspect sounds rather intriguing. Very truthful and insightful review. I enjoyed it.Zibileehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07443338685890187334noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-85751149940525664052012-04-30T11:48:49.905-04:002012-04-30T11:48:49.905-04:00I had to extend my date for this review because I ...I had to extend my date for this review because I wasn't able to get it read in time. Although I truly have been busy, I really wonder if part of it is that I became bored with this book. I was excited about it because of so many great things I heard about Sister. The narration of this really bothered me too and I feel like the "mystery" is really not a focus even though it's narrated as though it really is... if that makes sense, LOL. On another note, I totally bookmarked that quote too, haha!Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14128837662718618636noreply@blogger.com
