I've read only Kevin which I really liked and then The New Republic which I did not. And now I have no real desire to read any more of her books! :/Jennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14128837662718618636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-65489493648519984542013-06-28T07:10:43.722-04:002013-06-28T07:10:43.722-04:00Just reading some reviews now that I've writte...Just reading some reviews now that I've written mine, and didn't really realize there was a blog tour going on! I'm linking to your review today. So Much for That blew me away, incredible book, but I liked Big Brother a lot too.Laurie Chttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00177559207735782406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-59728288780609783722013-06-24T23:16:02.743-04:002013-06-24T23:16:02.743-04:00I am halfway done and think you are absolutely rig...I am halfway done and think you are absolutely right that she had an agenda, and then crafted a novel around it.Gayle Weiswasserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12246162601830732198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-66784460176857709152013-06-20T20:59:37.322-04:002013-06-20T20:59:37.322-04:00I love it when an author gets location details so ...I love it when an author gets location details so accurate that a native of the area can totally identify with it. My personal favorite is So Much for That. I also adore We Need to Talk About Kevin. It depends if you want to start with the best or the good. nomadreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04795144320842413060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-686662243403400292013-06-20T11:54:30.565-04:002013-06-20T11:54:30.565-04:00I've never read Shriver's work, but I saw ...I've never read Shriver's work, but I saw a video interview with her and was totally fascinated. Thankfully Shriver is a wonderful writer, as the premise does little for me.nomadreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04795144320842413060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-88327968086140389982013-06-19T12:46:33.197-04:002013-06-19T12:46:33.197-04:00I haven't yet read the book, but I love your f...I haven't yet read the book, but I love your final line in this review--from what I've heard, it seems dead-on. I wonder if you get the impression that Shriver is more about ideas that story here because the plot itself seems insubstantial; it's a collection of interesting people, but what's the central conflict? Of course, maybe that's more clear to those who have read the book. :)Melody Wilsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17543172007795709968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-35364873139230670222013-06-19T10:09:41.631-04:002013-06-19T10:09:41.631-04:00Moving this discussion to email so I can talk with...Moving this discussion to email so I can talk with spoilers;-)nomadreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04795144320842413060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-11339369156272670072013-06-19T10:09:18.355-04:002013-06-19T10:09:18.355-04:00Yes! Ah, well. It certainly made me think about obesity from a variety of (often conflicting) perspectives.nomadreaderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04795144320842413060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-80157372013683325632013-06-19T09:42:46.209-04:002013-06-19T09:42:46.209-04:00I'm conflicted about books like these as well ...I'm conflicted about books like these as well - where the main focus seems to be on making readers think than in telling a story. I have enjoyed books like these in the past but clearly I have to be in a "thinking" mood when I read them.Athirahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03366654538383603004noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5918892767071973314.post-82611775552820613872013-06-19T09:32:30.040-04:002013-06-19T09:32:30.040-04:00I sent you an email and messaged you on Twitter.
